Hey folks,
Just a quick note on the progress of the Don Knotts Statue project.
Things are moving forward. We have had many donations. Thank you very much! We
need many more!! Thank you in advance.
Our project has been covered in 100's of papers around the world, even in
JAPAN. We have had mentions on Fox News and The Paul Harvey Show.
Our eBay auctions are underway. We have had some "wording" problems with eBay.
Apparently there are a few "key" words you can't use in an add, like "Donate"
or "Charity". We apologize for any confusion and hope you will bid on the
items. We will be adding more items soon. Thanks to all who have donated
auction items. One of the auctions is for a HOUSE on the Blue Ridge Parkway
about 30 mins. from Mt. Airy!! Don't forget our raffle for the Mayberry Squad
Car and matching Golf Cart & Trailer.
We have had some comments thru our web site (www.donknottsstatue.com). Most of
which were about the proposed statue pose. Most thought the pose didn't really
suit Barney. So we have had the statue company submit a new sketch. We hope to
have it on the site very soon. Most fans wanted the pose of Barney loading his
gun but we felt that wouldn't be appropriate. We chose a pose that we saw
Barney strike many, many times.
Remember no donation is too small. If everyone pitched in a $1 we'd be in GREAT
SHAPE!!
