You can purchase a "cross-over" cable that eliminates the need for a hub
between two computers. I carry one along with an extra ethernet board
with my laptop so I can setup a temporary network between my client's
computer and my laptop when necessary. Comes in handy when working
for someone with just a single desktop and quick & dirty to set it up.
