Congrat's on the 3-day class. I'm leaning toward the solution that uses CF
for many reasons, most related to CF and it's ability to simplify the
process of processing data and it's ability to cache data well. They've got
some very cool tags going for them and a lot of good ideas on the horizon
(went to a Jeremy Allaire presentation at Seybold last month). If I go the
"a" route I can also use Perl to do some heavy
text-file-to-database-importing, which will be needed by the project ahead
of me. CF is somewhat lacking in that dept.
