and that reminded me that I meant to let you folks know that the Ashland
City Council last week gave its stamp of approval to the city-wide
fiberoptic net to be installed by the city electric dept. The budget is $5
million and proposed services include Internet services and cable TV.
Financing arrangements still have to undergo an approval process this fall.
Biggest opponent initially was TCI Cablevision, but I believe I read that
they decided to take the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em approach" by
buying space on the City's cables.
