It's been a long time since I lived there myself, but I'll say "ditto" to
just "New York." Or Manhattan if I'd needed to distinguish where I lived
from one of the boroughs.
BTW, in case any of you New Yorkers are thinking of traveling west, a word
of advice about that most beautiful city by the Bay. It's "San Francisco,"
occasionally abbreviated in writing (such as in an address on a mailing
envelope) to SF. Sometimes it's "the City." But it is NEVER, NEVER, NEVER
"'Frisco"!
P.S. and bring warm clothes, especially in the summer.
