Hi gang,
Today we're supposed to receive a 486 PC as a long-term loaner to use while
we save up to buy a monster Pentium 3D workstation. I haven't used a PC for
more than 5 minutes at a time since '89, way before Windows, so this should
be an interesting learning experience. I don't have any details about
brand, installed software, etc.
Our main goal right now is to use the 486 to preview Web pages, write HTML
and to check gamma on Web images. We work on Macs and want a little easier
control over the look of our final product.
I would appreciate your suggestions of freeware or shareware programs to
download for use on the PC.
I vaguely recall nightmare stories about installing/deinstalling MSIE.
Which version do you recommend that we use, and do you have any tips about
installing it?
Can you recommend a mailing list for help for PC newbies?
thanks, Suz
