    Funny thing about that... A 3270 CRT is a block mode device that lets
you fill in a screen/form, hit a function key, and have that screen
replaced/updated by a central computer feeding the terminal a complete
screen (block) full of text. It is very much like a text-mode browser.

     Not that much difference between the two from the user's
perspective... save for the availability of graphics, and the slower
speed.  Of course, that depends on how badly loaded your brontosaurus or
your hampster is...   In some places, we use to have a stack of magazines
next to our 3270's.

     Javascript is changing a lot of that, but the transfers still tend to
be block mode from mainframe to 3270, and from server to browser. Only
with javascript, you send more data than you need to.

     Sometimes I wonder if we are really making progress...
