A proprietary language?  I haven't heard of any languages being
proprietary since TRAC back in the 70's.  And certification in it?
Sounds like a scam to me.  If you know and trust the guy making you
the offer, it probably isn't him running the scam, but maybe someone
who is scamming him.

Learning a new language is never bad; anyone who programs professionally
should know a half-dozen or more and be strong in at least three.  I don't
think it's a good idea to have your first language be Basic; something
like Pascal would be better.
