    There are many industry specific languages, and proprietary variations
of such.  I have done deals like this before.  Look at the market for the
language, how much you are likely to make on the contract or two years of
employment (three to five on the East coast,) and then decide if acquiring
the skill is worth it vs doing something else.

    Like I say, there are plenty of proprietary languages out there that
are well respected in their vertical market areas.

    I tend to agree.  I am beginning to fiddle with ICON now. (Just
sniffing around it, writing simple stuff.) It is Griswold's SNOBOL grown
up and become a bit more civilized.  Not always convenient, but kind of
neat in that it breaks out arrays into lists, tables, PERL's associative
arrays,)  and records, (more like C's structures,) each with different
properties.
