Tomorrow I'm interviewing for a short-term contract to handle some HTML
coding and design with what is described as a "start-up" web company
located near me (San Francisco area). They have a big project they need
some help with for a few weeks (probably 2-3 weeks total). My question is
how to handle the issue of getting paid. I've never worked on contract to a
company before (I always have a contract to build a site directly with my
client).
So, assuming we agree on an hourly rate, how do I ask to get paid? I'm a
little reluctant to start working for a new, small, unknown company with no
money in advance. Do I ask for a retainer in advance? Do I invoice them
after a week and ask it be paid immmediately?
I hope others who have done this can give me some advice. Thanks!
Barry
