If a web page has a significant amount of text on it that is meant to
actually be read, it is folly to design the page such that when the viewer
expands their browser window to fill a high-res (more than 640 wide)
display, the text column expands with the browser window. If you do that,
no one will read the text.
There's a reason that newspapers and magazines are designed with narrow
columns of text.
