Far from a luddite, see the sig.

More is not often good. Especially if you can't
afford it.

Cable modems are for "upscale" users
who can afford pay-per-view.

~~ Source yesterday's technology stock redux, CNBC.

Me, I don't even have pay channels for movies. Can't afford
them. *Seldom* use long distance. Can't afford it either.

But our house is almost paid for. ;^}
I drive a '91 car and the 15 yr. old truck just got
traded for a new one that hopefully last 15 years.
Paid for too. Old fashioned is good sometimes. ;^}

Nor can my ENGINEERING students be considered
luddites, who are far from, these new chemical, industrial, aeronautic,
electrical, etc. *real* technicals of the future.

They work all day 8+ hrs. to afford
to go to CC at night or vice versa.

One made the comment yesterday, "Do you suppose
I could get on welfare to *finally* get my degree?"
Now *that's* sad!

Upscale not. Reasonable, affordable POD thru small ISPs
soon to go out of business thanks to FCC's support of
telco monopolies busily buying up cable and wireless.

Food for thought. Food for thought.

And while your thinking... think LINUX. Slim OS
that does not get in the way of applications, afterall
it's the applications we use not the bloated OS/GUI.

Speaking of that. I've done all the MSnot updates and
still the PI desktop is freezing. Thoughts... funny running
'98 glut on this laptop w/ no freezes.

Go figure!

o So when is MSnot going to finally solve this?
