Much of the angst we've witnessed in the opensolaris community over the last year has been because different segments of the community had differing expectations and interpretations of various community-related events and structures. So that we don't end up in a similar situation again, I think it is vital that it is made crystal clear from the very start how the new proposed .com domain would be controlled - for example, what is its relationship with the OGB, with the website editorial board and so on. There's a complete range of possibilities, from total community control through to total Sun control. I can see benefits of both ends of the range of possibilities, as well as the various intermediate stages. I'm not attempting to suggest one option or another, all I am suggesting is that it be made clear from the outset what the chosen configuration is, so that we set expectations appropriately and avoid any misunderstandings further down the line. -- Alan Burlison -- _______________________________________________ website-discuss mailing list [email protected]
