I wanted to wrap up my position on all of this. I appreciate everyone's response to my questions and comments and I've learned a lot.
In summary, I am not advocating that genunix goes away. As it was stated by others on this thread, it has every right to continue if community members want it to. However, if opensolaris.org at some point provides the same functionality as genunix, which I believe it should since a fully-functional wiki is a basic feature for a community portal, then I would expect (and encourage) users to start using opensolaris.org over genunix for various reasons that I've already stated. This is especially true for the Documentation Community. I am still unsure about whether the proposed portal changes will provide the functionality that I think the documentation community needs (and to meet the needs that genunix is currently providing), but I will continue to work with the documentation community leaders to request these enhancements.
