I'm just feeling really bad for her. (Him, too, but he's choosing to
marry someone like her, she's kind of stuck with who she is.) How
awful must it be to have your whole life aim toward One Thing
(marriage) and have the success of that endeavor totally dependent on
one other person. No wonder she's disappointed. She has NO SAY in
how this goes down, because she thinks she SHOULDN'T.

Oh crap, I'm doing the pitying-but-really-making-myself-feel-superior
thing. Sigh, Bad Feminist! Be nice to your ignorant sistren! Stop
enjoying your spinsterhood!

I'm going to link to a really neat (yes, feminist) book review that
talks about the Proposal and the Wedding and why they get so out of
whack for women like your SIL-to-be.

However, if your brother ever comes to his senses, he can propose to
me in a secluded waterfall and I'll appreciate it (I won't say yes,
but I'll still appreciate it)
