IMHO, campaigns look plenty professional without these, since the sprites can substitute for the same purpose, and a blank screen/map does not look bad for quick snippets of narration (or in fact, said narration can be done during the level). In fact, the danger is in thinking that "having something is better than nothing" - quite to the contrary, I think that having a bad portrait is much worse than having none, and using the good sprite for the same purpose instead. This very thing was part of why I joined this game. :) So, we should welcome good portraits/story art being in a campaign, but in no way should it be a requirement. In fact, if the portraits were bad enough, I think we should actually _remove them before including the campaign. > I believe many authors, who could spin a good story, would find it > difficult or counterproductive to work within the bounds of the WoW. > Since i judge Wesnoth the Game to be more important than Wesnoth > the World, i would let sufficiently good stories of other worlds into > mainline. For that matter, history can be liberally rewritten in campaigns. Don't like what happened in say, TRoW? Then declare it to be legend, rather than historical fact. The history of most older real-world countries generally has semi or fully mythical beginnings. _______________________________________________ Wesnoth-dev mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/wesnoth-dev
