Ben,

Perhaps you know more about this, but I assume the Mac App Store will only distribute software under a restrictive, non-free licence. Here are a few lines from the licence (assuming this is the one you agree to when installing it) to consider before distributing software in the app store.

http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html

A quick glance at the terms include requirements like this:

USAGE RULES

(i) You shall be authorized to use Products only for personal, noncommercial use.

(ii) You shall be authorized to use Products on five Apple-authorized devices at any time, except for Content Rentals (see below).

And lower down, emphasis mine:

Apple, at its sole discretion, without notice to you may: (i) terminate this Agreement and/or your Account, and you will remain liable for all amounts due under your Account up to and including the date of termination; and/or (ii)*terminate the license to the software*; and/or (iii) preclude access to the Service (or any part thereof).

Hello all,

As you may have heard, Apple just released the new "Mac App Store", which is
basically like the iPhone App Store, except for Mac. I would like to put Wesnoth on it,
and I think as the Mac packager, I'm the ideal candidate to do so. Previously, Apple's
software listing was a big source of publicity for Wesnoth on Mac, but the App Store is
replacing the software listing, so not being on it will mean a loss in publicity.

I haven't put anything on the Mac App Store yet, but from what I've read it's
not very difficult, and I've signed up for an account already. I was thinking
it could be priced similarly to Wesnoth on iOS ($1-5), and I'm hoping to keep
something like 10% of the profit myself. The reason to charge for it, is that
it will basically be an easy way for people to donate, and they'll be paying
for convenience - we WILL still have the Mac binary on the website for free.
The reason for me keeping a percentage, is that it is a bit of work to manage
something like this, and it costs $100/year as well.

Any objections?
