I am surely at a loss on this matter. I know like comrade Alaka has
explained, that a formal process was being undertaken between Arua Municipal
Council and the NFA as regards de-gazzeting parts of the forest for
residential purposes. I saw a copy of the letter that was prepared by the
Council to NFA and Ministries concerned as regards this matter. I have
therefore been expecting a positive news since the Council had already
acquired a land in Logiri as replacement.
I find it hard to accept this bull shit "Orders from above" business. I
seriously think we need to go ahead with the legal option if we are to be
given an explanation on what is happening. I fear that we may lose the land
and even the golf ground like we lost part of it several years back. Yet
this open space is part of the beauty of the town. Our pride should not just
be in so-called constructions but also in maintaining a natural
green-scenery that's attractive to the eyes and that affects the freshness
off the air we breath.
I would think we should liase with Municipal Council and the NFA on matters
of documents that may be required in as far as this crucial issue is
concerned.
We cannot allow the Municipal Re-Planning Process that is already in the
pipeline to just go to waste like that.
I think we have been taken for granted enough and the People of Arua should
stand up, even if it meant a demonstration in town.

Thanks.
