We upgraded to SP1 on Monday. This has resolved the CPU issues with the SQL Backend but WUP was still unworkably slow both locally, through terminal services and the web interface. One of our server guys has been working on it using a multitude of counters in Perfmon, and has come up with a simple fix in our case. Basically, all he has done it to remove the server name in the ODBC settings and replace it with the actual IP address of the SQL box, (which in our case is local to the machine). Incidentally, we don't have any problems with name resolution normally, but I have had a similair problem in the past with mail alerts on a different product. This has removed the requirement for a lookup everytime you try and do anything in the GUI or web interface. WUP now runs at lightning speed and we are all happy teddy bears for now.
It would be interesting to know if this minor "tweak" works for anyone else? ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
