Heath, > It would be interesting to know if this minor "tweak" works for anyone else? Does not work for me. In ODBC Data Source Administrator, tab "System DSN", I set server from "SERVERNAME\WHATSUP" to "(local)\WHATSUP". I'm runnning MSDE on the same host. In SQL Server Client Network Utility "TCP/IP" and "Named Pipes" are enabled.
In my opinion NmService.exe is too CPU hungry, steadily using 50%+ CPU time. Spending a couple of minutes to watch Task-Manager, NmService.exe regulary raises up to 90%, keeping there some time (15-20 sec.) and falls back to 50%. Yesterday, I emailed Ipswitch support my hardware specs and WUP configuration asking for further information on system requirements. Answer is outstanding.
