Yeah, I tried that and no change but I was hoping for a longshot to hit.
Funny thing, the C: drive won't accept anything - like it's write-protected
or read-only, but the message I get when attempting to copy a file from d:
to c: is something like "Cannot Copy File - Corrupt or damaged disk."
I suspect the C: drive is shot.
As soon as I can contact the owner (she didn't want to lose her music -
What? You didn't back it up?), I'll try to FDISK and FORMAT it and try a
re-install. It's due a BIOS update too so that may be a good time to "git er
done" as Ole Larry the Cable Guy would say.
Thanks for the help.
Any other help is appreciated, too, so if ya got a good ide just pass it on
my way. I gotta hit the sack now. My eyes are about bloodshot from looking
at PC screens all day.

So reboot the CD & run the Recovery Console then type in FIXBOOT. I that
doesn't do it I doubt it's the drive's MBR.
