According to the Washington Post an independent research firm IDC 19 percent of the worlds 500 million computers installed with some version of
Windows are still running Windows 98, 98SE and ME. That's 95 million PCs
according to the research firm.
Does this account for the 17 million bootleg copies of XPpro that's installed on those 19 million computers?
I doubt it. Bootleggers tend to be risk-takers, technically inclined people who always want the latest version of the OS and programs,
while those running older versions of Windows tend to be non-technical
people who play it safe and let others live on the bleeding edge. I'm generalizing, of course, and the vast majority of people are somewhere in the middle of those two extremes.
