The 6 floppies contain some of what is on the XP CD that you don't have.
You won't need the XP CD to get to the recovery console or to use recovery
console features.

Just boot the first floppy and the rest will be self explanatory. For
further preparation, read this:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314058

If recovery console won't start, as long as you have the hard drive you can
recover files from it by installing it in another computer.

When I opened the message, I found that Carl Houseman had written:

There's a couple (or a couple hundred) things I don't understand, Carl.

I have already download the file for the 6 disks. I also read this there:

"The Windows XP startup disk allows computers without a bootable CD-ROM to
perform a new installation of the operating system. The Windows XP startup
disk
will automatically load the correct drivers to gain access to the CD-ROM
drive
and start a new installation of Setup. You cannot upgrade from a Windows XP
startup disk."

And I read in the article referenced above:

"Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD."

Is that the same as saying "Insert Boot Disk" (Disk one of the six)?

I want to be ready when the time comes. All my business files are on that
drive.

I had some bad news from family back east and am flying back Tuesday.

Thanks,

Jim
