Since most routers have only four LAN ports, I'm curious
how you have 7 computers hooked up. Or is the "switch"
part a separate box fed from the Linksys?
You can simply run an ethernet cable between any
available LAN port on your router/switch to any LAN jack
on your son's Linksys. Don't use the WAN port.
I won't comment on the security aspect, but you have
to get it working without security first.

I have 7 computers hooked up through my wired home network. Cable modem to my Linksys router & switch. Everything works great.

My son (it's always the kids that want to mess up a good thing) wants me to make it wireless so he can hookup wirelessly with his laptop. He bought a new Linksys 4 port wireless router (looks identical to the one I have but has two antennas) and a notebook adapter.
