Subject: Re: Dell Dimension CPU Fan Replacement
I can get any fan? You need to write less absolute statements.
Heatsinks bundled with retail socket 478 and 775 Intel CPUs use fans which
are are molded right into the heatsink clamping bracket. They cannot be
replaced with standard fans.
I have Thermaltake heatsink and fan combinations units in stock for Socket
478 and Socket 777 in case a fan goes out in a computer I built. Never has
the Intel fan that came in a retail CPU package went out in a computer I
installed it in. From time to time I use one of these kits when I move an
Intel CPU that does not have adequate cooling installed or a fan that will
fit from a name brand motherboard to an Asus motherboard. As was mentioned
on another list, Dell is bad about omitting CPU fans in some models,
depending on the case rear vent fan to cool the CPU.
