Yes it uses a lot of letters, - 4, or 8
and you have to decide which partition to put things in

Then again a defrag of 400GB will take quite some time
as will a backup/restore

The manage facility is part of the OS and is available all the time the OS
is running -
It will allow you to partition the drive, and 'format' it for use within
windows

The Indexing basically creates an index of all the words it finds in all
the files you put on the partition, so you can search for text
(really useful for a partition full of films, music, and pictures, and
software executables)

The index will not only take a lot of time to create and maintain, but will
also use a lot of disk space (hidden as in the MFT)

The other consideration is do you want to put a booting OS onto this new
drive,
If so you will need to have a Primary partition at the beginning of the
drive
(and marked as active if you want it to boot)

All the data partitions can go in an extended partition
and the sum of the primary partitions and extended partitions you should not
be more than 4
but each extended partition can have as many secondary partitions as you
want
