I have dvd-decrypter that I also use to write to DVD's on the system that
runs Nero
perhaps you could try something like that - a simple 'image copy' type
facility and see if that also gives errors

Other possibilities - insufficient power, or horribly fragmented
workingspace causing problems with the continuous data feed needed for the
drive(s)
Even something like a USB, or comms controller taking CPU/bus/memory access
priority over the writers needs
