I've had more problems with Dlink products than another brand, both ones I've
sold and other's purchased directly by clients.

1) Remote administration on the units are near impossible especially if the
router is on a dynamic ip address that changes frequently simply because
allmost every change you make to a setting requires rebooting the unit. Most
other consumer and enterprise routers do NOT suffer from this silliness. I
had an occasion to have to do this on short notice for a client that was in
Toronto, I am in Vancouver, and even with Dynamic DNS setup, I just couldn't
connect to the thing 3/4 of the time, I eventually gave up and had them
replace it with a linksys unit, which I generally prefer for the consumer
stuff even though they also have issues, just not as bad as Dlink.

2) Very few of Dlinks products support SSL for remote administration, even
current models. The DIR-625, another Dlink product that was put in at the
same office as the DPR-1260 that started this thread, is the same, http
remote access only. As in number 1, every change requires a reboot, if you
are admining it over wireless, you get dumped off and then reconnect.

3) Dumb feature - the DIR-625 in particular

http://www.dlink.ca/products/?sec=1&pid=501

has this "feature" that once it's connected to a broadband connection, going
to the web interface on the unit, especially the Status page, gives you a
message that:

Your gateway is checking the speed of your connection, please wait,
this page will reload automatically. Accessing this page may cause the
    process to take longer.

A few seconds later it would reload the page, then the router would reboot,
go back to this page, reload a few times and reboot ad nauseum. In this case
client was using TELUS adsl which requires you to register the mac address
before you can get onto the internet, until you do, you can only get to their
account page to register the mac address. Normally with a new router, I just
hook it up, goto the registration page, register the mac address, release and
renew the ip on the router and all is good, this router completely
circumvents that and I can't see any good reason for this "feature". I could
find no way in the router interface to disable this awful piece of nonsense.
