Hello
I have a large laptop or portable computer:
DESKNOTE (BY(ECS)?)
MODEL NO A928

|TUV | EN 60950 | |PRODUCT | | |SERVICE | | _________________________

SERIAL NO:
GAZP21706392 4AB 3912A364

This computer has a problem startin up, when it is started the HD indicator light comes on for 2 or 3 seconds and then goes off. The sacreen does not light up nor show mem check or any error message. The power is still on as other lights are lit and the cooling fan is working but nothing on screen. Restarting the computer hundreds of times sometimes results in a normal start and I run virus and adware checks and find nothing. When it is restarted sometimes it works correctly and sometimes it goes back into the cycle of endless hard restarts with no boot up and HD indicator light comes on for 2 or 3 seconds and then goes off. The sacreen does not light up nor show mem
check or any error message.

I sent it back for warrenty work but they could not find anything wrong, they
kept it for 2 months and started it several times a day with no problem.

When it came back it worked OK for 3 or 4 weeks and then started its
tricks again, and got worse and worse until out of 2000 restarts had only 3
successful starts.

I have misplaced the warrenty info, so cannot contact them until I find it!!

I got an adapter to connect the HD to a desktop but had to buy a second
adaptor as this is a newer laptop HD that gets its power and data through
the one connector: Toshiba 60GB Hard Drive
(ATA-5, 4200 RPM, 2MB - MPN: MK6021GAS)

The HD checks out fine for reading and writing. What other tests can I run
with it connected by USB to the desktop?

The HD has 2 partitions, C:\Windows 15 GB and D:\Data the rest of the disk. I am thinking about buying another HD and trying to install windows on that in
place of the original, but would like some opinions on the problem, is it
a windows problem, MBR, boot sector, etc. I am lost without an error code
and no signs of life on the screen, and then after restarting the computer
hundreds of times sometimes results in a normal start.

Thank You Joe Harrison
