I'm leaving the above intact since it states the issue quite well. I was flamed
by a person who shall remain anonymous for posting an email almost identical to
this. He defended NetTraverse's lack of commitment and closed nature.
I received NO response from NT in regards to my email. A VERY basic human
behavior factor that NT doesn't seem to be able to comprehend is the fact that
people are 5 times more likely to tell people about a bad experience than a
good one. The impact of this on sales is an exercise left to the reader.
The lack of commitment / response leads one to conclude that NT does not have
the staff, expertise, desire, or whatever to support this product. This also
brings up the question of whether W4L is suitable for serious business use...
I've had to run VMware (which is slower) due to the lack of support for 2.4 and
a couple other applications that won't run correctly under W4L. At this point,
I would only recommend W4L to those who only have VERY basic needs, and have no
interest in upgrading their distros. This basically fits the profile of rather
unsophisicated home users. Unfortunately, I don't know of many unsophisticated
Linux users with needs that basic - they tend to be more power users.
NT: Have you figured out that this isn't good publicity yet?
