Dwayne,

A Big K Super Store with "Groceries on the east end", a Wendy's, Best
Buy, Office Depot, Office Max, Sam's Club, Ciatti's Italian Restaurant,
Cone Island Hot Dogs, Big & Tall Clothing, Fazoli's, Drive thru English
Fish & Chips.

I could care less about "Wal-Mart" I just want more selection and
competition and lots of parking.

Others have had the opportunity but have failed to make the investment
except for those who are there now.

Have you ever managed a retail store? Part time is necessary to serve
customers at the peak times when they shop. Many people they would
rather work part time since if affords them the free time they desire
for their families, recreation, retirement or school. Many do so by
choice not necessity.

We have found the for small business it is easier to recruit part time
quality people with better job specific skills than full time because
they like part time or having flexible work hours. It also enables small
business to have two quality specialized people with diverse skills
verses a single generalist.

Explain this to me,
Most of the residents of Washington, DC have to leave the city for their groceries yet all I hear is complaining about people having to drive two pathetic miles to get their groceries in Winona. OMG, the world will end because I have to get in a car and drive. After 750 trips you may have to get an oil change! No, the world will not end for something so trivial... The residents of DC, have more to complain about than a grocery store, and it seems likely that the DC residents should have "first dibs" on complaining about grocery stores complaints.

Explain why there really is a market for an east end grocery store. According to your own logic, if there had been a market somebody would have done it by now. There is also a market for tearing down some bluffs and filling the lakes for housing and a strip mall, but no one is doing that either. Translation: this market based mumbo-jumbo is nothing more than a cover for the real issues.

It comes as second nature for most to get in the car and go everywhere else, but when it comes to groceries suddenly now everybody wants to save the earth and walk there? (Excuse me while I LOL.) Some sit there with this market based hog wash yet they fail to consider their own logic. Items like distance to a grocery store would also be considered into the market value of a house.

Diverse skills from varying staffers? Skills such as what?

One of the things that I am concerned about being here in Canada, is the level of anti-American sentiment that I am running into. I am shocked by it... and I am not saying that it is not warranted, I am shocked because it is warranted.
