Walmart SuperCenter as Death Star?

I don't think so.

These other stores compete with Walmart in most communities our size and larger.
It is only smaller towns that really get nuked.  Also unlike most communities we have an expanding retail base.  Winona county for many years had one of the smallest retail sales tax numbers per capita in the state...we were an under-retailed community for many years...thus all the trips to LaCrosse...that is changing...and I think that there is the market for both Walmart and existing businesses.

Phil Carlson also reminded me that RV'ers seek out Walmart parking lots...that's extra tourists!

PS...If you oppose Walmart, start planning a boycott, 'cause they bought land yesterday.

How many of these stores will still exist here in Winona one year after the invasion of the evil empire of the Walton's from Arkansas?
