I see this as simply a lesser of two evils, and we all know that Wal-Mart is
the low cost leader.

GS comments: My experience with Wal-Mart is that they are like any other
retailer. You CAN NOT assume they are always the low price. This was
reinforced to me in Watertown, WI yesterday when I called the local Super
Wal-Mart and a small (less than 1,000 sq feet) local computer store. The
small store was $9 lower on Norton AV 2003. As a matter of fact, they were
about $2 lower than the copy I bought at Best Buy last fall. Some of you
may recall a few years ago that Wal-Mart was using the "always to low price"
or something close) in there advertising. They were forced to change it
because it was not true.

Wal-Mart seems not a lot different than any other store to me. They offer
better value on some things than on others. Stay away from their non name
brand low price stuff. Often it is not worth the money, IMNSHO.

I shopped Wal-Mart quite a bit when I lived in Tomah, WI for almost 6 years
(before Tomah got a Super Wal-Mart). I did not really like the shopping
experience there: a lot of quality concerns, narrow assortment in a lot of
departments and I HATE the greeters. I want to be able to find knowledgeable
help at my convenience, until then, leave me alone.
