[Winona Online Democracy] Dean, there is a new D.A.R.E curriculum that will begin in September, 2003. It will be taught in both the 5th. and 7th. grades. The tehme of the new curriculum is "Take Charge of Your Life". This curriculum meets and exceeds national education standards and competency requirements for drug and violence education programs. Two pilot studies show the new curriculum to be effective. The study of the new curriculum was consucted by the University at Akron, Ohio. Dean this the the only real prevention program that we have for children. We are very aggressive on the enforcement side, as it relates to drugs and alcohol, and the D.A.R.E. Program offers a balance. Chief Pomeroy
