** I disagree. Wilson township has prime farm land
that will be taxed beyond what any farmer can pay if Wilson (or any township)
were to become part of Winona. Homer township has many farms up here on Homer
ridge. Who is going to feed this country when townships are forced to become
part of a city and the farmer has to sell out because he was taxed
out?
Those of us who chose to live in the country
do not want to be part of a city. If we did we would move.
Linda Fort
Everyone deserves
a local government, and I think townships serve a valid purpose in
authentically rural areas. Wilson township is not such
an authentically rural area. It is sandwiched between the city of
Winona and the Interstate. It is destined for development. It,
too, in my opinion should be a part of the city of Winona.
