.

I need to be careful because of recent debate and strong opinions but it should be asked:

Why do we still need township government?

**I am answering this before reading the other posts.> Absolutely we need township government. Perhaps only those of us who have always lived outside the city understand the impact a local government has on the citizens of the township.  In the country, everyone knows everyone else. That is just how it is, either that or you knew their parents or other relative, etc.  It makes for a sense of friendship and trust among the citizens. How many people in a city actually 'know' their officials on a first name basis?  Too big a government makes some people feel small.

What does a township offer that the County cant do more effectively?

** again for me it is the sense of a small community-friendship.  I feel that if I have a problem or concern I will be listened to and heard by my local township officals. I have been to county meetings and not all the members appear to be paying attention.

Perhaps in the days before telephones and cars they made good sense.  That day of limited communication ability is long gone.

Does it make sense to have two or three cities side by side that duplicate most services?

**I am not sure what this implies.  Even if cities were side by side wouldn't each one be better able to take care of their own citizens on a smaller scale than taking care of many thousands of people? Big government is not always best. The people lose their Voice.

That is not my call to make, but I bet many opinions exist.

**I certainly do not have the answers either, but I have very strong opinions on township government.
