Dear friends,
yoy may have followed my previous posts: Xastir on raspberrypi to SCS PTCIIpro for Robustpacket Radio I was able to configure, compile, and install for the first time Xastir (Xastir-2.0.8) in the basic setting

(configure # Generated by GNU Autoconf 2.69 for xastir 2.0.8).
It was located in /usr/scr/xastir-2.0.8.

xastir 2.0.8 has been configured to use the following
options and external libraries:

MINIMUM OPTIONS:
ShapeLib (Vector maps) ................. : yes (internal)

RECOMMENDED OPTIONS:
 GraphicsMagick/ImageMagick (Raster maps) : no
pcre (Shapefile customization) ......... : no
dbfawk (Shapefile customization) ....... : no
rtree indexing (Shapefile speedups) .... : yes
map caching (Raster map speedups) ...... : no
internet map retrieval ................. : yes (wget)

FOR THE ADVENTUROUS:
 AX25 (Linux Kernel I/O Drivers) ........ : no
libproj (USGS Topos & Aerial Photos) ... : no
GeoTiff (USGS Topos & Aerial Photos) ... : no
 Festival (Text-to-speech) .............. : no
 GDAL/OGR (Obtuse map formats) .......... : no
 GPSMan/gpsmanshp (GPS downloads) ....... : no

Then I installed new libraries, among them shapelib (in /usr/bin), I also recompiled anew and installed GraphicsMagick, with libraries located in /home/pi/graphicsmagick-1.3.20/debian/graphicsmagick/usr/lib/mime/packages. But, recompiling xastir, the situation didn't change much: no use of the new Shapelib, no recognition of GraphicsMagick.
The only thing I noted, not present the previous times was:
./configure: line 11040: EXEEXT: command not found (why?)

xastir 2.0.8 has been configured to use the following

options and external libraries:

MINIMUM OPTIONS:
ShapeLib (Vector maps) ................. : yes (internal)

RECOMMENDED OPTIONS:
 GraphicsMagick/ImageMagick (Raster maps) : no
pcre (Shapefile customization) ......... : yes
dbfawk (Shapefile customization) ....... : yes
rtree indexing (Shapefile speedups) .... : yes
map caching (Raster map speedups) ...... : no
internet map retrieval ................. : yes (libcurl)

FOR THE ADVENTUROUS:
 AX25 (Linux Kernel I/O Drivers) ........ : no
libproj (USGS Topos & Aerial Photos) ... : yes
GeoTiff (USGS Topos & Aerial Photos) ... : no
 Festival (Text-to-speech) .............. : no
 GDAL/OGR (Obtuse map formats) .......... : yes
 GPSMan/gpsmanshp (GPS downloads) ....... : no

May be the reason is that the configure was not able to find the path of the graphicsmagcs libraries.
Any suggestion?

Giuseppe
