It is for Streak 7, not 5, but might be similar?
Also Android now has a device kit, and you can build an Arduino based plugin
hardware for about $25, theoretically you could convert (with almost no effort)
to serial. Or even better:

There is issues, e.g. the Android that supports the device kit has not been
released for the DELL Streak.
