Hi, Janos
I'd use a Flarm.
It's about 700EUR and somewhat a kind of short range - TCAS
It has a barographic sensor, optional a noise sensor if you got a
motorized glider,
can be used as IGC Logger, has easy to use micro SD card slot, is faster
and more sensitive than most of the older GPS Variometers ..
just google along flarm and you'll see ..
So
1. you are doing somewhat for your security because other flarm
users are able to see you - and you can see them
2. it's one of the cheaper solutions ..
@Tibor:
Hi, Tibor.
nice to hear that /you/ don need that equipement - but that wasn't the
question :-))

Dear Max,
I'm a young (biologically not so young) glider pilot, and in the near
future (probably early next year as the season begins) I would like to
use your excellent XCSoar on my android based HTC Desire.
However, a connection to a barometric altimeter would be very useful.
Can you please suggest an equipment which is supported by you/XCSoar,
and a connection method (is bluetooth reliable enough?)
Thanks for your kind help in advance
