I have two Android tablets (cheap, no-name chines Tablets) one with capacitive touchscreen and one with resistive touchscreen.
I wrote a small Android application, which sends all inputs to my PC to a Java application (and displays it on the tablet also). I first bought the one with resistive touchscreen, the touchscreen is really bad, but even if it would be better, you cannot use it as tablet for writing, you have to place your hand somewhere, and if this is on your display the pen is not working any more... => resistive touch screen is not usable... Then capacitive: my finger is to imprecise to use, so I build a "pen" (you can also buy one;-)) you can simple use anti-static packagingn matrial, e.g. from computer parts (processor, ram whatever) and use this as "pen", but its to imprecise... You cannot compare it with a wacom tablet... => also not usable... You may can use this mark some text parts, or to insert keyboard-written text, but not for hand-writing. (if you would buy a cheap tablet-pc: you can search in online auctions, there are often companies which sell her two year old tablets really cheap...) > An interesting idea is that with the Android app store(s) we could actually > sell > xournal too. I thinks this is not possible, because of the GPL license... > I still have to study it, but I plan to use the C++ port of it, try to > create a small OS-independent library with all the Xournal logic in > it. At the moment it is not abstract enough to port it to other devices, my first target is now to get all running, but after we can split it up into libxournal and Xournal-GTK, Xournal-Android, Xournal-Mameo or whatever. (I don't want that you have to copy the code, if we have the same base we don't need to merge if somebody changes something...) For Android we need also JNI. I may can help you, I did such things before, not on the android platform, but I think there is no big difference to other Java platforms.
