Good point about the restart. Too bad there's no way to suspend Entourage & the
Daemon's operations for a short period, then do a block level backup.

With Barry's solution (the previous message), is there a way to restart both
applications (En+Daemon) after the backup has completed?

No solution will be great simply because Entourage must be quit during the
backup or else the Database backup will be corrupt.

I'm on a laptop and so I use the paid version of SuperDuper! to create a
local backup at 9:00 p.m. every evening to a local disk image. It has the
ability to run pre and post scripts, which I use to quit the Database Daemon
and restart it after the backup. Then Time Machine will backup the disk
image wirelessly. I have my Entourage Database excluded from Time Machine
backups.

Dave Nanian told me during a Twitter conversation that he's looking into
adding sparse bundles to SuperDuper! at some point in the future, which
would work even better. Still waiting for this, though.
