The application Entourage is in the Application folder --> Microsoft Office 2008. Check permissions on this folder. Mine is showing this for both the Microsoft Office 2008 folder and the Entourage application. System: read & write Admin: read & write everyone: read only Your Identities folder is located in this location: "~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008 Identities" My permissions are: diane: read & write staff: read only everyone: read only Did you copy over the Microsoft User Data folder from another computer or user? It's possible they are directing you to move this Identities folder to the desktop, then let Entourage create a new Identities folder. I would go one step further and let the entire Microsoft User Data folder be recreated. Once you do this, you can compare permissions on each subfolder to the ones on the desktop. Usually you can add the files into the new folders and everything will be work as expected. Generally it's the folder not the files that's set incorrectly.
