response to a specific and common miss-configuration problem

some previous release. I doubt this user has that specific problem

wording doesn’t apply.
The user should make certain that he or she has read and write
permissions to
everything in the Microsoft User Data folder.
Try this first. Move the Microsoft User Data folder to the desktop.
Let
Entourage create a new one. Then check the permissions on the blank
Main
Identity folder that was created. Compare them to the Main Identity
in the
Microsoft User Data folder on the desktop. Fix permissions, then
drag just
the fixed Main Identity back to the new folder.
You can bring over your scripts, but do not bring over the old
Entourage X
and Entourage 2001 Identities. They are no longer needed.
If this doesn't work, create a new User in System Preferences and test
Entourage in a new Identity. You can drag your Main Identity to
Shared so
you can access it in the new User.
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch
to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test
Entourage in
the new User.
