Hi Diane Thanks for your reply from a few weeks ago, my problem has come back to me again now.
I have enough free space on my Mac - have 785gb free, got a new iMac with a terabyte hard disk! I have also looked at web site you pointed me to, I created a new identity that seemed quite happy doing, took it about 5 minutes to do. Also created a new folder called Main Identity and dragged just the 5 items I have in there in case there were any hidden files lurking in there! A few days ago it did a 'compact database' and it went down from about 3.2gig to 2.4gig - I had had a good purge of deleting a load of old attachments and some old emails. Not sure how many emails I have in my database but I think it must be well over 10,000++ and also have nearly 800 contacts. But yesterday it crashed when I clicked on an email to open, must say had a few crashes, also searching my contacts is now very slow, can take minute at least to do a search. This morning went to rebuild database and it seems to go thru all the motions quite happily, but then just end up with spinning wheel and finally have to force quit. Now in my Main Identity folder my database file has grown to 2.83gig and there is a Database (Rebuild) file in there as well which is 2.4gig?? Your thoughts and comments would be much appreciated as to what I should try next?
