Anthony, You disappoint me,but maybe I'm just behind the times.
The word 'respect' certainly has changed meaning in the last couple decades - especially in American inner-city jargon. Nowdays when you hear inner-city youths, especially gang members, talk about 'respect' they are equating 'respect' with 'fear'. If you don't fear them, you're not showing them respect. You're 'dissing' them (dis-respecting). When I use the word 'respect' it has nothing to do with fear. In fact I don't respect people I fear. I just fear them. To me 'respect' means 'having esteem for', 'holding in high regard' or 'placing high value one'. It has nothing at all to do with fear. ...Bill! --- In [email protected], Anthony Wu <wuasg@...> wrote: > > Bill, >  > You say, ' zen has 'distilled' Buddhism down into only the bare essense.'
