I'd agree with Bill in drawing a distinction between real and emotional pain and with much of what he said about dealing with it. Pain is an actual chemical, a drop of which would kill you. Being a chemical however the production of it can be turned off. Not at all an easy thing to achieve through meditation, but possible. Quite possibly dangerous to do also. Typically anyone who has gained sufficient self mastery to do such a thing will have learnt enough to do so safely. But sometimes people can just get lucky so if you truly desire to pursue such a path be warned there are possible pitfalls and dangers.
