That of course is excellent advice. Some of my teachers are no longer alive, but I have seen evidence of teachers being aware of students from a distance.
It is impractical now. I could no longer do an intensive due to poor health. I'm not bedridden, but, for example, I can only do light work in the yard for a couple of hours. With longer light work, or heavy work, I become weak and begin to pass out. Then when I go into Yreka to grocery shop, which is necessary, I am not well the rest of the day. But that doesn't mean that I have to stop meditating. I just need to do it in easier ways. And I am still interested in increasing my skills. After all, so many beings are suffering, and the only way to rescue them is to become rather more advanced than I am now. Enlightened would be best, but even becoming a first bhumi bodhisattva would be something. I'm not advanced enough yet to be a first bhumi bodhisattva, however. Then, of course, I do learn things from other people who aren't themselves high level teachers. So there is still a lot I can do.
