Edgar,
Whatever you think is in order for yourself; but I'd recommend less reliance on
logic. I don't mean to suggest you rely on illogic, no!
Our religion is not dependent on logic, nor on writings. It's personal.
And so back to our topic. I think your time is better used in doing other than
assailing Zen practice methods, even if you have exhausted them, or exhausted
yourself. Some people *do* awaken, in Zen circles, by means of their practice
(of the methods). Not you? Sorry. Don't lose faith. Read a book of accounts
by people -- or of people -- who have awakened. Start with Shakyamuni.
And in modern times, the many awakenings of Master Hsu Yun.
In practice, there are no guarantees other than that your life will become
better and you will cause less harm. And one must have a guide to help make
sure we are applying ourselves correctly: a book can be a guide, but a person
who has accomplished what we want to accomplish is more agile.
Not all practice is practice: correct practice is effective.
