I assure you, as one who has done several hermit retreats (cave zen), the presence or 
absence of others is irrelevant. When lust arises, boy-howdy, it can be just as much a 
tosser as anger. And an excellent illustration of how the mind creates.

The absence of the desired object does give one the possibility of not pursuing, 
though. A chance to steady up and take one's seat again. To see one's pattern of 
desire.
