nice, amazing63. I always laugh when my vegan friend gives her little speech while driving her gas guzzling, Valdez-slick-motivating, leather seated, car around. "This," shes says "is unfortuantely necessary to do, but at lesat the eating of animals I can avoid".
We all choose our battles -- but often I think peoples battles are chose to make them feel pious, rather than address what's most immediate. There's the story of the monk who rests his feet on the buddha statue. When someone asks him to not put his stinkers on something so sacred, he asks in return for him to point out what is less sacred, and he will gladly put his feet there instead. :) Rod Scholl -----Original Message----- From: amazing63 [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, March 17, 2005 6:27 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Zen] Re: too much From: Jacqueline So why are they hunting ? Braking the neck of a goose and then placing on our front porch was done out of both hate and anger. Killing can not be done by a loving person (except in very rare circumstances out of compassion.)>> What total bullshit. Hunting is a right that every American has. In most places where the Politically Correct Nazis have not taken away the right to own a rifle, people go out and hunt because during Hunting Season the protected species of Deer, Elk, and other animals have to be thinned out. Most ethical Hunters eat the food that they kill. You cannot buy Deer, Elk, squirrel, or most game meats at any Supermarket. I knew a guy whose family would kill the legal limit of squirrels and they seemed to enjoy eating those critters in every way just like chicken. Hunting and Killing are part of Life and Death, and Zen is about Life and Death. Zen is not about judgmental milksops who spread as much hate as anyone else while ignorantly believing that no animals (or people) have died for their own sustenance or clothing. Zen was often the philosophy of the Samurai class, and believe it or not, when they could fish, they did. They preferred to eat their meals with some kind of meat, not just rice and vegetables. Don't re-write the history of Japan and America to fit your own effete snobbery. ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
